Marvin Flumm was born in Watford City, North Dakota. He was born a Mutant; a telepath with only moderate ability.

Marvin Flumm went to work for shield while his powers developed.

Calling himself Mentallo he stole a battle suit and telepathy enhancing equipment and teamed with the fixer to try to take over shield, but Nick fury stopped them. Flumm called himself Think Tank when he first faced Captain America but soon return to the code name Mentallo. He tangled with the Hulk, The Avengers, professor X, and the Fantastic Four among others. He was part of The Hoods criminal crew and was one of the many villains imprisoned in Shields Pleasant Valley facility.
